This turned out to be more complicated than just to delete a function because it was used internally, and the callback signatures were a bit flaky. I also added a lot of documentation to clarify matters. FL/Fl.H: document idle callback signatures, make some internal functions of class Fl private, add public Fl::idle() accessor (read- only), add Fl::add_idle(Fl_Old_Idle_Handler cb) to enable using old-style idle callbacks w/o 'data' argument. FL/forms.H: replace Fl::set_idle() with Fl::add_idle(). src/Fl.cxx: rename private Fl::idle_ with trailing underscore. src/Fl_System_Driver.cxx: use new public accessor Fl::idle() to access Fl::idle_ which is now private. src/Fl_add_idle.cxx: improve documentation, clarify idle callback matching, add example code in docs, rename methods, add overloaded Fl::add_idle(Fl_Old_Idle_Handler cb). src/Fl_win32.cxx: use public Fl::idle() rather than private member. src/drivers/Unix/Fl_Unix_System_Driver.cxx: same as above. src/Fl_cocoa.mm: same as above.

2022-03-21Fix driver definitions of vsnprintf() and vsscanf()Albrecht Schlosser
These two functions are fully defined in the platform specific driver methods, there's no need to define them in the base class. This quick fix returns 0 from the base class method. The main reason was to avoid a compiler error of MSVC 2010 and earlier, i.e. before MSVC 2012. Todo: int Fl_WinAPI_System_Driver::clocale_sscanf() needs to be fixed because '_vsscanf_l()' (with lower case 'L' for 'locale') does not exist in MSVC 2010 and earlier. It is not clear yet in which version it was added - current MS docs show it in MSVC 2015 and later.

* Added filename function to Fl_Preferences Static function to get filename before opening. Member to get filename after opening. Bug fixes for memory mapped preferences. * ERROR is a macro on Windows, don't use it * Added Fl_Preferences::dirty(). User can now check if the database will be written when flushed or destroyed. Flush returns a crude error code. * Fl_Preferences::get binary data returns # of bytes read. * Verified group deletion code * Fl_Preferences ignores locale. This will make .prefs files interchangeable between different computers. * Updating the Preferences Mode to ignore locale. * Fixes in docs.

A lot of code touched because low level functions needed to pass up error messages reliably, and this had to propagate up the entire driver hierarchy. Tested OK *in English* on: > Linux > OSX 10.10.x > Windows VS2017 > Windows mingw64 I have no way to test on Android, but it might work. TODO: Needs testing in other languages to verify proper UTF8 error messages, esp. with Windows VS, due to complexities with FormatMessage() -- see get_ms_errmsg()

2018-02-06Add support for detection and processing of clean program termination request.Manolo Gouy
The default handling of cmd-Q/Quit program under MacOS was to terminate the program if all its windows are closed without returning from FLTK's event loop. This was running against a strong design feature of FLTK that programs should always complete their event loop and return from main() when cleanly terminating. In the new code for the MacOS platform, cmd-Q/Quit program no longer terminates the program. Adding two new driver types for each platform. Fl_..._System_Drivers exist once per application and provide an interface for to file and filename handling, timers, locking, multithreading, etc. . The Fl_..._Window_Driver class is instantiated once for every window in the system and corresponds closely to (and actually inherits from) Fl_X.
